What if you could develop and deploy a search or data analytics user interface in time counted in hours rather than weeks? Once developing such applications become low cost projects, creating powerful user interfaces tailored to specific user communities becomes quite cost effective. Productivity across the organisation can easily grow as users have the right information easily at their fingertips.
Fusion App Studio provides unrivaled capabilities to deliver sophisticated search and analytical applications. It all starts with a range of modern user interface components specifically designed for quickly delivering search and analytic functions.

Bring your search application development into the 21st century. With plugins to work with all major search (and some non-search) repositories, application development is exciting again. All applications are reactive and responsive — desktop and mobile applications supported from a single code-base. Application templates provide your developers a handy head start.

Sometimes values are better presented using a histogram to visually depict the range of values and the number of documents associated with each value.
Facets can be presented in a number of ways, the simplest is a list of values with associated document counts, as depicted here – a Show More link at the bottom can be used to display more values. However, for very long lists of field values, it makes sense to allow the user to search within the facet values, that capability too is depicted here.

A card is just one way of presenting result information. In this layout each Nobel Laureate is presented with their photo and some biographical and award information. In the demonstration, the result layout supports infinite scrolling where more results are dynamically retrieved as the user scrolls to their search results. This feature is easily enabled bringing a now familiar user interface paradigm to your users with no intricate coding required!
When results have a geographical element, presenting the information on a map provides a powerful route to understanding the interrelationships in your data. Additionally, geographical heat maps (depicted here) can provide better insights for larger data sets. Mapping using both Google and Bing are supported – it's your choice.

More than just pretty pictures, though
Powerful user experiences are only just the start, Fusion App Studio has a number of modules to deliver enterprise grade information solutions.
Data abstraction provides just one of the significant App Studio benefits. Like many organisations, you likely have a number of information management technologies, from leading edge products like Lucidworks Fusion, to legacy products like Google Search Appliance. Fusion App Studio allows your organisation to seamlessly leverage these technologies across a single page. A Fusion search may return supplier information, but the users need to see order history for the supplier – easy, with App Studio, the order history can be retrieved from the relational database using a simple SQL query and integrated along side the Fusion search results.

Collaboration
The collaboration module adds essential collaboration elements such as bookmarking and liking result items, saving searches and even adding notes to data items transparent to the underlying application. Any database can be used to store this collaboration information. Liked result items can even result in a relevance boost.
Security
Fusion App Studio has security built right in. Authentication and authorisation is handled by App Studio, abstracting the authentication providers. It integrates with identity management systems such as Active Directory and CA Site Minder, also supporting Active Directory Single Sign On. Authentication credentials will be passed on to all capable information sources to pre-filter search results, additional cover is provided for sources that do not support pre-filtering.
Workflow
The App Studio workflow module provides extension points in the search process. For example, a user's query could be modified to include terms from the corporate thesaurus, additional information could be retrieved from a relational database to supplement the result items for specific searches.
Another common use case for workflow modules is to clean or standardise data being returned from legacy systems, or to harmonise data returned from legacy systems after corporate mergers.
Media
The Fusion App Studio media module starts by providing powerful support for managing media in mobile environments, supporting caching and on-the-fly transcoding to and from mobile formats.
Additionally, the media module supports exporting data to PDF, CSV and Microsoft Excel. The export process is able to work with entire datasets and use tags and CSS to format generated PDF files for rich reporting.

Federation
With the App Studio federation module, results can be drawn from multiple information sources and beautifully presented as a single cohesive result set. So when deploying Lucidworks Fusion, leverage your existing information management investments while bringing Fusion's power to bear on your highest priority. As time and resources permit, legacy systems can be replaced with no interruption to your users. This is but possible one scenario for deploying this powerful capability.
